QR Code Forever

Facebook QR code for pages, events and groups

Make a Facebook QR code that opens your page, an event or a group when it is scanned from a flyer, a poster or a shop counter. The code stores the plain link, so it is static, never expires and never passes through a third-party server. It is free with no sign-up, made entirely in your browser, and verified by a real scanner before you download it.

Content: Facebook page link

Open your page, copy the address from the browser bar, or use the page username.

Off by default. When on, each downloaded code (type, content, style) is saved in this browser only, never uploaded. You can delete them at any time.

How to make a Facebook QR code

  1. Open your page on the web and copy the address from the browser bar. With a page username the short form facebook.com/yourpage is best; without one, the longer address with a numeric ID also works.
  2. For an event, open it and use the Share button, then Copy link; for a group, copy the address from the browser bar. Check that the event or group is public, otherwise people who scan will see a login prompt or nothing at all.
  3. Paste the address into Facebook page link and press Test link, ideally on a phone that is signed out, to see what a stranger sees.
  4. Optionally choose a Style preset, set your Foreground colour or add your own logo with Upload logo.
  5. Wait for Verified: scans as URL, then Download PDF at the printed size for posters or Download PNG for flyers and screens.

Facebook QR code details

The code encodes one address, for example https://facebook.com/yourpage. A phone that scans it shows the link and opens it; Facebook decides whether the page appears in the browser or the app. Nothing is stored about the person who scanned, and nothing about the scan comes back to you.

Page, event or group

Each is just a different address. A page with a username gives the shortest link, around 30 characters, which fits a 29 × 29 module code at error correction M. A page without a username produces a link with profile.php?id= and a long number, roughly 50 characters, which needs 33 × 33 modules; you can set a username in the page settings to shorten it. Event and group links are also 40–60 characters. Whatever you choose, open it while signed out before you print: private events, closed groups and friends-only profiles show a login wall to people who are not already inside.

Where to use it

Flyers and posters for events, the counter of a shop or café, church and club notice boards, packaging inserts, and the back of business cards. Add a caption telling people what they will get, such as ‘Event details and updates on Facebook’, because a bare code gets fewer scans.

Common mistakes

  • Copying the address from inside the app. In-app addresses sometimes carry extra parameters; use the web address, or strip everything after a question mark.
  • Linking an event on permanent signage. After the event the code leads nowhere useful. Use the page link for anything that stays up.
  • Dark blue code on dark blue paper. Keep the contrast high; the checker warns below 3:1.

Before printing a batch, check the downloaded file with the QR code reader to confirm the decoded address is the one you meant.

This code never expires

The code stores your page, event or group link as text, so it keeps working for as long as that address exists on Facebook. This is a static QR code: the data is written into the pattern, so scanning it needs no server, no account and no subscription. There is nothing to renew and no redirect that can be switched off, which is why a code made here keeps working for as long as the printed copy exists. The trade-off is honest: a static code cannot be edited after printing and does not count scans. If you need either, encode a link to a page you control. Read how static and dynamic codes differ, and if a code you already have has stopped working, see why QR codes expire.

Styling, formats and print size

Every code can be styled in the Style panel: six dot shapes, corner shapes, solid or gradient colours, a transparent background, a quiet zone of 0–8 modules, and your own logo up to 30 percent of the width. A contrast checker warns below 3:1 and blocks downloads below 1.5:1, and after each change the preview is decoded again so the badge tells you whether the styled code still scans.

OutputBest forNotes
PNGWeb, documents, quick prints256 to 4096 px; transparent background supported
SVGDesigners and print shopsVector, scales without limit; logo embedded
PDFPrinting at an exact sizeVector modules at a chosen width in mm or inches, optional caption
JPGPlatforms that reject PNGWhite background; no transparency
EPSLegacy print workflowsVector from the module matrix, no logo
Copy / PrintPasting into a document; a quick paper testPNG to the clipboard; print view with caption

Print size: as a rule of thumb the code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance wide, with the quiet zone included.

Scan distanceMinimum width
0.5 m (arm's length)5 cm
1 m10 cm
2 m20 cm
5 m50 cm

A flyer or counter card scanned from 30 cm needs 3 cm; an A3 poster read from 1–2 m needs 10–20 cm. Print with the white margin intact.

The QR code size guide has a calculator for module size, DPI and distance.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Facebook QR code expire?

No. The code carries the address of your page, event or group as plain text. There is no shortener or redirect service that can lapse. An event code does become useless once the event has passed, not because the code expires but because the destination has, so link events only on short-lived material.

Which link should I use for my page?

The page username link, facebook.com/yourpage, if you have set one in the page settings. It is short, readable and gives a smaller code. Without a username, Facebook shows an address with profile.php?id= and a long number; it works, but the code will be several rows of modules larger.

Can I make a code for an event or a group?

Yes, paste the event or group link instead. The event should be public so that anyone can open it; private events show only a login screen to people who are not invited. Groups behave the same way: a public or visible group opens, a hidden one does not.

Will it open the Facebook app?

The phone opens the link in the browser, and on most phones Facebook then switches to the app if it is installed. If it is not, the mobile website appears. This handoff is handled by the phone and Facebook; the code contains only the address and cannot force one or the other.

Can I put the Facebook logo in the centre?

The generator does not include platform logos, and Facebook's brand rules restrict how its mark may be altered or combined with other art. Upload your own logo instead, or use a plain code with the caption 'Find us on Facebook'. The verification badge confirms that the styled code still scans.
