LinkedIn QR code for your profile, badge or resume
Make a LinkedIn QR code that opens your profile when someone scans your name badge, business card or printed resume. The code stores the plain profile address, so it is static, never expires and passes through no third-party server. It is free with no sign-up, made entirely in your browser, and verified by a real scanner before you download it.
Content: LinkedIn profile link
On your profile, use "Edit public profile & URL" to copy or customise the address.
Style
PNG, JPG or SVG up to 2 MB. It stays on your device.
Your codes on this device
Off by default. When on, each downloaded code (type, content, style) is saved in this browser only, never uploaded. You can delete them at any time.
How to make a LinkedIn QR code
- Open your profile on the LinkedIn website and choose 'Edit public profile & URL' on the right. Your address is shown at the top as linkedin.com/in/ followed by a name and often some digits.
- Click the pencil next to the address to customise it, for example linkedin.com/in/jane-doe, and save. A short, readable address makes a smaller code and looks better on a card.
- For a company, open the company page and copy the address from the browser bar; it has the form linkedin.com/company/yourcompany.
- Paste the address into LinkedIn profile link and press Test link. Check it in a private window: public profiles open for everyone, but a profile set to private shows only a login prompt.
- Wait for Verified: scans as URL, then Download SVG for the card designer or Download PNG for the resume and badge artwork.
LinkedIn QR code details
The code contains one address, such as https://linkedin.com/in/jane-doe. A phone reads it, shows the link and opens it; LinkedIn then shows your profile in the app or the browser. Because the address is the only content, the code is small: a custom profile address of 30–35 characters fits a 29 × 29 module code at error correction M, which prints cleanly at 2 cm on a card.
Getting the right address
LinkedIn gives every profile an address under linkedin.com/in/, usually your name plus random digits: long and easy to mistype. On the website, open your profile and choose ‘Edit public profile & URL’ in the right-hand column; the pencil next to the address lets you replace the suffix with something short, such as your name with a hyphen. Save it and paste the whole address into the generator. Company pages use linkedin.com/company/ and the slug you chose when the page was created. In the same settings panel you can decide what signed-out visitors see; a printed code will reach people who are not signed in, so make sure the public view shows what you want.
Where to use it
Conference name badges, the back of business cards, the header of a printed resume, slides at the end of a talk, and email signatures where a small image is allowed. Always add a caption such as ‘Connect on LinkedIn’.
Common mistakes
- Printing the default address with digits. It works, but customise it first so the card stays clean if anyone ever retypes it.
- Changing the custom address after printing. The old address stops pointing to you once you change it, so treat the printed one as final.
- Grey-on-white styling. Keep the modules dark; the contrast checker warns below 3:1.
Before the print run, check the proof with the QR code reader to confirm the decoded address.
This code never expires
The code stores your profile address as text, so it keeps working for as long as that address stays yours. This is a static QR code: the data is written into the pattern, so scanning it needs no server, no account and no subscription. There is nothing to renew and no redirect that can be switched off, which is why a code made here keeps working for as long as the printed copy exists. The trade-off is honest: a static code cannot be edited after printing and does not count scans. If you need either, encode a link to a page you control. Read how static and dynamic codes differ, and if a code you already have has stopped working, see why QR codes expire.
Styling, formats and print size
Every code can be styled in the Style panel: six dot shapes, corner shapes, solid or gradient colours, a transparent background, a quiet zone of 0–8 modules, and your own logo up to 30 percent of the width. A contrast checker warns below 3:1 and blocks downloads below 1.5:1, and after each change the preview is decoded again so the badge tells you whether the styled code still scans.
| Output | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Web, documents, quick prints | 256 to 4096 px; transparent background supported |
| SVG | Designers and print shops | Vector, scales without limit; logo embedded |
| Printing at an exact size | Vector modules at a chosen width in mm or inches, optional caption | |
| JPG | Platforms that reject PNG | White background; no transparency |
| EPS | Legacy print workflows | Vector from the module matrix, no logo |
| Copy / Print | Pasting into a document; a quick paper test | PNG to the clipboard; print view with caption |
Print size: as a rule of thumb the code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance wide, with the quiet zone included.
| Scan distance | Minimum width |
|---|---|
| 0.5 m (arm's length) | 5 cm |
| 1 m | 10 cm |
| 2 m | 20 cm |
| 5 m | 50 cm |
Business cards and badges are scanned from 20–30 cm, so 2–2.5 cm is enough; on a resume, 2 cm in the header is plenty. Keep the quiet zone clear of text.
The QR code size guide has a calculator for module size, DPI and distance.
Frequently asked questions
Does a LinkedIn QR code expire?
No. The code contains the linkedin.com/in/ address as plain text, and the phone opens it directly. There is no redirect service that can lapse, and no account with us. It only stops working if you change your custom address, so pick one you will keep before printing cards.
How do I get a short LinkedIn address?
On the website, open your profile, choose 'Edit public profile & URL' and click the pencil next to the address. Enter something short and stable, such as your name with a hyphen, and save. Custom addresses must be unique, so add an initial or a number if your first choice is taken.
Is this different from the QR code in the LinkedIn app?
The app's code, found next to the search bar, encodes a profile link too but only in LinkedIn's fixed style, and it can only be shown from your phone. Here you get a clean PNG, SVG or PDF in your own colours, printed at any size, verified before download. Both lead to the same profile.
Can I make a code for a company page?
Yes. Paste the company page address, linkedin.com/company/yourcompany, instead of a personal profile. It works on trade show banners, brochures and recruitment posters. As with profiles, open the link signed out first: company pages are public, but a page that has not been published yet shows nothing.
What happens when someone scans it?
The phone shows the address and opens it; on most phones LinkedIn hands off to the app if it is installed, otherwise the web profile appears. Signed-in viewers can connect or follow you in one tap. Signed-out viewers see your public profile as configured in your visibility settings.
