QR code sticker for windows, products and equipment
A QR code sticker puts a link on anything: a shop door, a delivery box, a bike frame, a laptop lid, a meter cupboard. This page makes a printable QR sticker code that is static, so it never expires and nothing routes through a server. It is free with no sign-up, made in your browser, and verified by a real scanner before download.
Content: Link for the sticker
Short links make simpler codes, which scan better at small sticker sizes.
Style
PNG, JPG or SVG up to 2 MB. It stays on your device.
Your codes on this device
Off by default. When on, each downloaded code (type, content, style) is saved in this browser only, never uploaded. You can delete them at any time.
How to make a QR code sticker
- Copy the address the sticker should open. The shorter it is, the fewer modules, and fewer modules scan better at sticker sizes.
- Paste it into Link for the sticker and click Test link.
- Keep Quiet zone on so the white margin is part of the file, and check the capacity line under the preview: 25 × 25 or 29 × 29 modules is what you want for a 2–3 cm sticker.
- Wait for the badge to read Verified, then choose Download SVG for a print shop, or Download PDF at the sticker's physical size for a home label printer.
- For a sheet of different stickers, use the bulk generator with a CSV and a Label sheet PDF in A4 3×8 or Letter 2×5.
QR code sticker details
A sticker code is a link code printed small and stuck on something real. It is scanned from close range, often in a moment, and must survive fingers, rain and a scraper. The link, the size and the material decide whether it works.
Sizes for stickers
At 2 cm wide, a 25 × 25 module code has modules of about 0.6 mm with the quiet zone included, the practical minimum for a laser or inkjet label and for most print shops. 3 cm is comfortable and forgiving; 5 cm suits a door or a machine scanned from a step away. Check the capacity line under the preview and, at 33 × 33 or more, shorten the link or enlarge the sticker. The size guide has the full table.
Vinyl or paper
Paper labels are cheap, print at home and last indoors. Vinyl survives outdoors, on a bike, a bin or a toolbox, and can be wiped clean; ask for a matte laminate, because gloss reflects the light and defeats the camera.
Bleed and quiet zone
Print shops ask for bleed, extra colour beyond the cut line. The code needs the opposite: a white quiet zone at least four modules wide that stays inside the cut, so a die that drifts by a millimetre does not slice the pattern. Set the background to white, centre the code, and keep any text outside the quiet zone.
Files and batches
Send the SVG, or the PDF at the physical size with a caption; both are vector and print sharp at any size. A different link per sticker, for asset tags or room signs, is a job for the bulk QR code generator: a CSV in, a ZIP and a label sheet PDF out.
This code never expires
The address is stored inside the sticker's code, so it keeps working for as long as the page it points to stays online. This is a static QR code: the data is written into the pattern, so scanning it needs no server, no account and no subscription. There is nothing to renew and no redirect that can be switched off, which is why a code made here keeps working for as long as the printed copy exists. The trade-off is honest: a static code cannot be edited after printing and does not count scans. If you need either, encode a link to a page you control. Read how static and dynamic codes differ, and if a code you already have has stopped working, see why QR codes expire.
Styling, formats and print size
Every code can be styled in the Style panel: six dot shapes, corner shapes, solid or gradient colours, a transparent background, a quiet zone of 0–8 modules, and your own logo up to 30 percent of the width. A contrast checker warns below 3:1 and blocks downloads below 1.5:1, and after each change the preview is decoded again so the badge tells you whether the styled code still scans.
| Output | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PNG | Web, documents, quick prints | 256 to 4096 px; transparent background supported |
| SVG | Designers and print shops | Vector, scales without limit; logo embedded |
| Printing at an exact size | Vector modules at a chosen width in mm or inches, optional caption | |
| JPG | Platforms that reject PNG | White background; no transparency |
| EPS | Legacy print workflows | Vector from the module matrix, no logo |
| Copy / Print | Pasting into a document; a quick paper test | PNG to the clipboard; print view with caption |
Print size: as a rule of thumb the code should be at least one tenth of the scanning distance wide, with the quiet zone included.
| Scan distance | Minimum width |
|---|---|
| 0.5 m (arm's length) | 5 cm |
| 1 m | 10 cm |
| 2 m | 20 cm |
| 5 m | 50 cm |
Make a QR code sticker 2–5 cm wide, with a quiet zone of at least four modules inside the cut line; it is scanned from 20–50 cm, so 3 cm suits most uses.
The QR code size guide has a calculator for module size, DPI and distance.
Frequently asked questions
Does a QR code sticker expire?
No. The sticker holds the address itself, generated in your browser with nothing stored on a server. It keeps working until you take it down or the page moves. Stickers outlive campaigns, so link to a page on your own domain that you can update without reprinting.
What is the smallest size for a sticker code?
About 2 cm wide for a short link, including the white margin. Below that, ordinary printers cannot draw the modules cleanly and phones struggle to focus. If the sticker must be smaller, shorten the link until the code is 25 × 25 modules and use a high-resolution press.
Vinyl or paper for QR stickers?
Paper for indoor, short-term use: price tags, folders, a laptop. Vinyl with a matte laminate for anything outdoors, handled or wiped: doors, equipment, bins, vehicles. Avoid gloss finishes on both; the reflection at phone height hides part of the code and the scan fails.
Do I need bleed for a sticker code?
The print shop may need bleed for the background colour. The code needs a white quiet zone inside the cut line, at least four modules wide, so it is never trimmed. Keep the code centred with the margin around it and let the bleed be white.
Which file format should I give the print shop?
SVG, or the PDF at the final physical size. Both are vector, so the edges stay sharp however the shop scales them, and the PDF can carry a caption. Use the PNG only for home label printers, at 1024 px or more.
How do I make a sheet of stickers with a different link on each?
Use the bulk generator. Upload a CSV with a link per row and a label column, choose the style and the output, and pick a Label sheet PDF in A4 3×8 or Letter 2×5. The ZIP holds every code, and a sample is verified by decoding before delivery.
